¬
This is a full time teaching position for a passionate educator with a strong background in physical education, health and fitness/wellness programs at both the middle and upper school levels. The position also includes two seasons of coaching in the athletic department, which may require the candidate begin in mid-August, 2020.¬ The department philosophy encompasses the common goal for teaching students to live healthy and active lifestyles within a positive and diverse learning environment. Individuals who apply should be extremely responsible and highly motivated to teach and to make interdisciplinary connections across the various divisions of the school.¬ In addition to teaching, our faculty members are involved in a variety of activities critical to the education of students at Dwight-Englewood School.¬¬¬
Job responsibilities:
In addition to teaching a full load of classes, the position includes:
   » Teaching middle school health and physical education classes
   » Teaching upper school courses related to group exercise and fitness
   » Serve as an advisor to a small group of middle school students
   » Coach two seasons of athletics (options include: Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Softball)
   » Supervision of the girl's locker room
   » Other tasks, as assigned¬

Appropriate qualifications: The ideal candidate should have excellent oral, written and electronic communication expertise; demonstrate the capability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies in a diverse educational environment, and have strong interpersonal expertise, warmth, humor and energy. B.S. in health and physical education or its equivalent is required. practice in developing or working in a wellness environment is advantageous as well as candidates who enjoy working with young adolescents. Candidates having certifications in the areas of health education, Yoga and Meditation, Strength and Conditioning, spinning and, in the playing or coaching of multiple sports will be given extra consideration, especially those who have practice in the areas of diversity and cultural competency work.
