Listing description

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences administration at Iowa State University is accepting applications for an academic fiscal agent III to serve as the college’s chief academic finance agent. The academic fiscal agent has primary responsibility for strategic budgeting and planning, managing the financial resources of the college, financial analysis and reporting, fiscal operations, and compliance. This position will advise the dean, associate deans, department chairs and center directors, faculty and staff on financial, budget and policy issues. Additionally, this position supervises a staff of six, professional & scientific employees and leads college-level meetings/discussions on fiscal matters. The academic fiscal agent reports directly to the CALS associate dean of operations and serves as a liaison to university partners in the areas of fiscal management.
The prosperous candidate will possess independent judgment; sound decision making expertise, initiative; the capability to coordinate a variety of activities; the capability to understand University policies and procedures; the capability to implement programs and procedures and to work/lead a wide variety of individuals on fiscal-related matters, projections and analytics. In addition, this candidate will possess a strong service orientation to represent the college and dean’s office and communicate effectively with a wide variety of campus constituents. Familiarity with federal “Uniform Guidance” policies related to federal funding is valuable. Strong expertise of complex financial/accounting/database/analytical software is needed for success in this position, also.
