Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The ECU Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) is a part of the ECU Brody School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and contractually serves as the primary portal of entry for the N.C. Infant Toddler Program within multiple counties in the eastern region of the state. Currently, We are pursuing an Early Intervention Specialist to cover a portion of the counties within our catchment area. Geographic assignments are subject to modification dependent upon the needs of the program.
Job tasks
The primary purpose of this position is to provide speech-language assessments and/or treatment to infants and toddlers referred to the Children’s Developmental Services Agency. The ECU CDSA is a part of the ECU Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics and contractually serves as the primary portal of entry for the N.C. Infant Toddler Program for seven counties in the eastern region of the State. We are pursuing an Speech Language Pathologist to cover a portion of the counties within our catchment area which include Beaufort, Bertie, Greene, Hyde, Martin, Pitt and Wayne.
The SLP will develop suggested strategies which respond to the goals and priorities of the family. The SLP will teach and coach within their area of skills relative to the results and routines identified by families and approved by the IFSP team, of which the SLP will be a member. Services may be provided in a variety of settings including homes, daycares and the community.
Minimum Education/practice
Bachelor's or Master's degree in the therapeutic specialty area to which assigned. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure in speech pathology, audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other fields. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred practice, Skills, Training/Education
Prefer practice with the Birth to Three population, family-directed service provision, home and community located programming, developmental assessments and evaluations, as well as therapeutic interventions with young children with disabilities and their families in area of specialty. Good verbal and written communication skills are important.
License or Certification Required by the Department
Licensed/certified in Speech Language Pathology or eligible to complete Clinical Fellowship Year. We are able to provide supervision for a CFY candidate.
Possession of a valid operator's license and a clear motor vehicle driving record which meets the ECU requirements for operating automobiles in the University motor fleet.
