Hillsboro manufacturer is currently seeking a maintenance mechanic who will work under the general supervision to maintain and repair injection molds. Using their technical knowledge, the mold maintenance technician will perform preventative maintenance, repair molds, and fabricate components.

Job responsibilities:
this function is responsible for supporting the department manager and meeting the quality, production and cost improvement objectives for the molding department.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

expertise:
- Actively participate in the inspection, cleaning, repair and modification of molds and machined parts for all production areas
- Maintain, monitor, and document injection mold history to ensure continious adherence to quality specifications and established company standards
- Perform mold repair work on cavities to and cores due to damage or wear. Note any changes to molds, inserts, parts, etc.
- Coordinate work with outside vendors to order materials, tooling, shop supplies, etc.
- Work closely with engineering department and participate in design reviews
- May provide training to lower-level mold maintenance technicians and machinists
- Perform programming, set-up and operation of the multi-axis CNC machinery
- Utilized Mastercam software to develop programs using G-codes for HAAS CNC Mill

Appropriate qualifications:
- Associates degree in Machine Shop technology or completion of 4-year apprenticeship program or equivalent applicable education and work practice.
- At least 5 years of practice in a tool room along with an knowledge of injection molding technology
- Advanced PC expertise to include Microsoft Office and Mastercam
- Proficient use of machine tools to include CNC equipmment, lathe, surface grinder, band saw, cut off saw, measurement equipment and hand tools
- Proficient knowledge of tool steel and heat treatments
