Position Summary:
The College of Education is seeking applications for a transformational and innovative leader to serve as Director of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice. The Office of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice offers an array of services to support students pursuing Teacher Licensure in Tennessee at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The University of Memphis Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) are nationally accredited with a focus on preparing equity-minded and culturally competent, learner-ready teachers for urban, rural and suburban districts.
Reporting to the Dean, the Director of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice provides leadership abilities for the Office of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice and is responsible for continuous program review and improvement using research and analysis to assess program quality. The Director provides direction and coordination for clinical practice practices across all education programs. The position regularly works with the department chairs, academic program coordinators, and the department faculty and staff to ensure highest quality programming that meets/exceeds regulatory and licensing standards. The position is also responsible for data collection and analysis that contributes to systemic programs and Professional Education Unit reports that are required by the Council on Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Tennessee Department of Education and School Board of Education.

In addition to superviseing operations of the Office of Teacher Educational and Clinical Practice, the Director is responsible for building and maintaining strong collaborative, responsive partnerships with school districts and academic units/departments on campus. This position also carries a faculty appointment in the Department of Instruction and Curriculum leadership abilities.
The Department of Instruction and Curriculum leadership abilities (ICL) offers undergraduate degrees that lead to both licensure and non-licensure tracks. The department also offers graduate degrees leading to licensure with the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and non-licensure options with the Master of Science (MS), Education Specialist (EdS), and Doctorate of Education (EdD). In addition, the department also offers nationally-recognized certificate and endorsement programs []. We also benefit from strong partnerships with three university-affiliated lab schools-The UofM Early Learning & Research Center, Campus School, and University Middle which collectively serve over 500 children from PreK to 8th grade. The College of Education is dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and innovation and seeks to prepare students for careers as educators, practitioners, researchers and leaders in their respective areas. • Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, or related field
• Minimum of three years of prior effective PK-12 teaching practice
• practice establishing positive, responsive collaborations and partnerships with schools
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice through urban and equity-focused teaching, research and/or service
• Commitment to educational and cultural needs of diverse populations
• Strong background and expertise of clinical practice
• Strong oral, written and presentation expertise

• Evidence of excellent record of post-secondary teaching, research and/or scholarly work and service in the field of education/teacher preparation
